Announcing the 1st Bursa Dummy Book Contest!

Most photographers strive to make a book of their own. Yet the marketplace makes this a difficult task even for the most well-known photographers. We invite you to submit your book dummy to the festival for a project that is near to your heart and complete, yet still remains unpublished. 5 judges (both foreign and Turkish) will decide on the best book dummy resulting in a published book printed in Istanbul. We encourage originality, the personal touch, and risk taking, to show us your vision. We will not consider portfolios. The published book will be as close to your concept as possible. 1000 copies will be printed with an ISBN.

Important : Dummy book will be printed during the year 2012, and published within next year’s festival. Dummy books which are not eligible are not to be sent back, but they can be taken by the author or his representatives.

To enter please send your entry to the Bursa Photography Festival by Oct 15th or bring it with you on the first day of the festival. Application form in attachment should also be filled, printed out and sent with the dummy book. We will announce the winner on Oct 20th.

In order to help people out who don't like to read the fine print, here are the terms and conditions, you should read them.

http://www.bursaphotofest.org/wp-con...cification.pdf

Some highlights:
2. The competition exhibition will separately printed, the printings that entering extent in the contest shall be deemed to donated to the “Farewell to Grey, Welcome to Colors” Project carried out by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and the Bursa City Council under social responsibility Project. Within the scope of this Project, the printings would be exhibited on the walls of the public institutions and schools.

8. Bursa Metropolitan Municipality could purchase some photos which entering extent or exhibited, to use in the publications. (I doubt they mean purchased from YOU the sumbitter, but from the compilers of the image).
9. The Contest Catalog as a CD would be sent to all of the participants. (not sure what this means, but it seems your images may be sent to all those that entered)

There is no real disclosure as to what rights you have or lose when you submit. I'd very much hesitate to submit anything to this contest to be honest. They need to make these issues much clearer.

thank you very much for the link of the terms and condition, i forgot this case in my thread.
i understand your concerns and will share these with the contest comitee, however as i stated in my above explanation Bursa Photofest International Photo Contest is recognized by FIAP and is being supported by Turkish Photographic Art Federation, it is not organized by any commercial organization.
you can check the Advisory Board in the web page, the terms and condition was checked and approved by them.

Why don't you link here to the terms and conditions.
Why don't you post the FIAP and the Turkish Photographic Art Federation's views on copyright?

There are too many scam competitions out there, and the lack of readily accessible info from your contest sends up red flags.

Why charge Turkish citizens and not internationals? That's also.. um.. alarming to me.
