Default Photographer of the Year 2011

I've entered the photographer of the Year competition, wih £20,000 worth of prizes, I figured there's no harm in trying, you never know some of my photos might do ok.. Would be thrilling to be short listed or mentioned for something, although I don't think I'll get placed for anything, this is a big competition.

Anyway, if you want to encourage me, you can find my photos here:

Maybe I'll have some of you competing against me, that would be great.

You should always trust in yourself, you can always get lucky. 20,000 pounds is a great amount. I wanted to join too.

yeah probably a famous magazine photographer, like for time or national geographic will win, but its always fun to see where you place isn't it

I like the shot looking straight up Jon. Good luck with the competition, well done for putting yourself out there - you're braver than me!

Thanks Kate. Nothing ventured nothing gained.. I'm intending to enter some other photographs closer to the closing date.. There's a limit of 5 per category and 10 categories.. Hell, I just put them out there and forget about them.. WAYYyyyyy too much competition for me to imagine I'll get anywhere with it, but as they say, gotta be in it to win it.

I like the 2nd photo of the tower. That is a tough subject you picked. very hard to get a unique shot considering its been photographed well over a million times

Well done for taking the bull by the horns Jon. Good luck.

BTW a lady on another forum entered with the same thoughts as you in a big Australian competition - and came second! Fingers crossed
ps I like both . The first is a great 'different view' kind of reminds me of a kaleidoscope.

Default Good Luck

Love both shots. I usually try to look at things from a slightly different angle than "normal" people do when I'm shooting so it's nice to see I'm not alone I look forward to seeing your other entries.
