Not your fault. Just check the terms. They can use your image, or any of them, for that matter, even the one's that didn't win, for their own promotional purposes, without any renumeration to you, and there would be nothing you could do about it. Simply by entering the "contest", you give up all of your rights to that image. $500.00 is chump change to what they could potentially make off of one image. The bad thing about it, is Domino's is a huge brand, and they are stooping to the levels of the street hustler to save money.

Rights grabs aside... I don't think I've ever gotten a Dominos pizza (especially after delivery) that looks in an advertisable quality to shoot.

I'm sure I'll regret this post, but I guess there are a few points I have to bring up if for no other sake than to chalk this up as a learning experience.

I acknowledge that $500 seems like a lowball figure for a big brand like Domino's. Would $5,000 be more reasonable? $10,000?

How do you quantify how much one revenue one particular image is capable of generating if the photog retained rights? It makes more sense to hand over rights to Domino's for a number of reasons. First and foremost being: you're not going to make money off the image yourself, you'd be sued by Domino's.

It seems like an easy way for a chance @ $500 to me. And if you win, you not only get some cash for a new lens, but maybe a little something to add to your bio as well.
