Default Dark Light - B&W or Colour?

I've done two version of this, torn between the two - and also wonder whether closer cropping might improve it.

The two versions are here:

B&W:
Dark Light

and colour:

The Light

Thoughts and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
Phil.

I also prefer the color version. It seems to have more depth.

My preference is for the colour version. The hint of colour in the glass helps draw the eye to the subject, whereas, in the b&w I think the rays of light are more dominant.

Nice composition! TFS

personally i think both got a different feel to em --- if you though a little contrast maybe dailup the light up a bit on that black and wht one -- it a give it a little energy -- then that a be my pick

The black and white one draws my eyes to the clouds. The colour one to the lamp. The dirt on the lamp is much more apparent in the colour version, as is the tint of the glass.

The colour version is better in my opinion.
