Default B&W Colorized Portrait

Hello again, good people!

I wasn't real sure this is where I should post this but, I wanted it critiqued and it's a portrait so; here it is! What happened was this; my boss/father-in-law (no pressure! :/) wanted a picture of his dad colorized so, he brought it into my office and basically said "colorize this". What I would like to know is if looks real enough and, if not, what could I do to make it better.

Thank you all so much for your CC! All is welcome!

Also, that picture was taken in the 1930's so I don't have a CLUE what the EXIF is! lol

I like what you have done here. I like the blue tones of his shirt, he stands out well from the men behind him. Since you've left must of the colors subdued, it doesn't look too overdone to me.

I like what you've done here. The muted colors go really well with the time period of the photo.

I think this is well done. The colors are appropriately muted and subdued to match the tone and feel of the original image.

In terms of colors, though, something about the skin tone/shirt color combination is throwing me off. Maybe it's that his shirt seems more 3D than his hands, which seem flat. I suspect it's because of a possible blowout on his hands due to overexposure, which means you can't add color to them, but regardless... Maybe try muting the colors of the shirt even more? If you dampen it maybe it'll pop less. Or maybe it's just me.

Nice job! I love what you've done with it. Hope the boss man agrees!

Thank you all for the comments! It's always greatly appreciated!

I guess I should've told you that the men in the picture are coal miners in the 1930's. So, I did try to make all the colors a bit 'drab' because most of them are covered in coal dust. This is just a crop of a much larger portrait of about 20 men standing infront of a coal mine.

Again, and as always, thanx for the comments!
