Default Rocks in? Rocks out?

Which version do you like more?

You know, I can't say one is definitively better than the other. The first one is more abstract and ethereal. The rocks provide some scale and some tension as my eyes travel between them and the logs(?).

Hi Downtown,

I said it before, but I like it without the rocks in the foreground. It forces the focus on the pier. Glad to see that you posted one with the crop.

Thanks KG & Sterling. I think if I had composed this shot with the rocks parallel to the subject it would be less of an issue. That said I would also lose the interesting angle of the subject as well. I'm swaying to the without!

Both are interesting shots crops. Of the two, I prefer the one without the rocks, but it's a tough call.

i very much prefer the one with the rocks. I feel like it adds some interesting context rather than just having the log without any other reference.

tough call, but i like the one with the rocks, it adds some depth to the picture i think. the one without rocks makes the pier/log object seem really far.

I'll be in the minority here. Although I usually like foreground in photos, in this case I prefer it without the rocks.
