Default Duck Statue Comparison

make_way_for_ducklings

or
make_way_for_ducklings_2

One has more contrast in it than the other. The shadows are darker in one than the other.
Which one do you prefer?

I like the sky and buildings in number one, but the ducks and foreground in number 2

However, I do question your use of B+W. To me, wildlife needs colour to feel alive. In B+W for your image, it is ambigous as to whether these are real ducks, or some form of public sculpture art. If you feel that all the colour in the background detracts from the subject, use masks to change the levels/colour/saturation of the background.

EDIT: i see now that these are sculptures - so maybe B+W was a good choice, to get that ambigouity that I mentioned . ..

Not a bit fan of starbursts, particularly when they are as big as you have it. I would tone that down a bit.

I agree with Nathan that the starbursts are overkill. In fact, when I first looked at your pictures I didn't see ducks I saw blinding lights. I see little difference in the 2 pictures but I prefer the first.

Thanks for the replys. I'll try and tone down the starburst a little.
Though it was a long exposure at night so the starbursts are hard to avoid. At least with my megar skills. I'll see what I can do in PP.

I like the first one better, the darkness and the shadows create a bit of a... danger at night feeling, slightly sinister, you wonder what is going on and what is going to happen (or maybe I just have an overactive imagination ). To me it just feels like it has more of a story to it than the second one.
