I took this shot at recent wedding, this is JPG from the camera before I've done any work in CS3. I'd like to see which crop, if any, you prefer. The two crops are sized for an 8x10 print.
IMG_1258 is the original image. IMG_1258_1 is one crop option. IMG_1258_2 is a second crop option. (removed) IMG_1258_3 is the last crop option. (removed) EXIF details from the original image: Canon 20D Flash: Manual Focal Length: 21.0 Exposure time: 1/60s Apeture: F4.0 ISO: 400 White Bal: Auto Metering: Matrix Exposure: program - auto Lens: 18-55 IS ![]() ![]() Thank to everybody who takes time to comment. they needed to take one step to their left (camera right) so the lamp isnt growing from their backs..
crop 2 is the best, it is still too dark IMHO.. need more spread, and a brighter flash.

Thanks for your response.
My partner posed this shot. Her goal was for them to have a romantic moment looking at the stars as if looking into their future together. I tried to use as much of the available light with only hint of flash to separate them from the background. There is a light at the bottom of the pole hidden behind the groom's leg, If the couple had stepped to their left (our right) that light would have become more visible and added too much light to the scene. This was at about 10pm at night the end of the reception and just about everybody else had gone home when the bride asked if we could do some portraits outside. We had wanted to do this earlier but they had a small wedding and we just could not pull them away from their guests. Thanks for your comments! Dave Fraedrich Great Events Arizona |

Do yo think you may be able to edit out the light then perhaps lightetn the pic up a bit? The light is a bit distracting cause its right on the grooms sholder. but i do like the pic i think its the second one when the couple are on the left of the shot as you have the light from the room in the background too

i honestly think this picture can not be saved.
...was it a thought to maybe expose for the background & then hit them with the flash... i agree that it looks like the lamp is growing out of the groom's head. also next time try and pose their heads maybe not looking directly up but to the side showing their line of vision. they'll have that pose of looking at the stars without having to look up their noses. hope that helps a little |
