Default Niagara || Bright or Dull ??

To all the Guru's !!!

I have the following pics that i am confused with:
1) All clear Pic as is
2) Shaded to highlight the water Falls.

Questions:
1) How could i avoid the Blow out of light in certain spots
2) How i could have focused highlighting only the falls...but still having the other area in frame
3) if i have to print, which one can i go with ?

Exif info:
Camera: Sony DSC-H5
Exposure: 5
Aperture: f/3.5
Focal Length: 6 mm
ISO Speed: 80
Exposure Bias: +0.3 EV
Flash: Off, Did not fire

Default too red

I wish I could help more, but...I like how some of the mist is not red, there was too much red in the first one I think, but I miss the colours from the buildings. Maybe a happy medium?

I like the 2nd one better, the red saturation on the falls is great. I don't like how the spot light and city/skyline lose their color, however.

I'd go with the same gradient idea, but maybe only with the mist on the bottom right. Maybe try a very desaturated cyan?
