Default Another B&W/Color landscape

Which do you guys prefer? I don't care too much for the color one, it just looks like any other landscape snapshot to me. In particular, I think the B&W brings out the details in the clouds and mountains. In the color version, they looks fairly washed out due to the rain that was falling between me and the mountains at the time.

I think the B&W one stands out though. Any thoughts? Anything you would do different when shooting this scene? Thanks

think they both look snapshotty to me - BW is slightly better.

I would say go HDR or at the very least, vivid up the colors a bit - will stop it looking snapshot like.

The b/w looks better but not by much..if you're trying to do an Ansel Adams look... back in the 35mm days we'd use a red filter to sharpen detail..don't know if you can accomplish that post pic on PS or Gimp.

By snapshotty, I think the comment merely means that the photo does not stand out or draws the viewer into the picture. I think the negative part of digital photography is that people tend to take a lot of snapshots in hope of getting one photograph. Try to visualize your shots as if you were shooting in film and can't waste shots; you'll find that you'll end up with many more interesting shots.
