Default Water Clock

I was reading about the Water droplets last week and I gave it a shot
Set up on my kitchen sink, the same way he explained in his article
Nikon D200 with SB 600 speedlight
Nikon 105mm macro at ISO 200,Fstop 7.1,at 1/60 sec
In the original the clock was blurred, so I cloned a sharp image of the watch out of the
20 images I had taken at the same time.
My question is...which is better and why?

The one with blurred clock is better. Droplet is your subject, so i would like to see sharp focus on droplets. Everything else should be out of focus. If i were you I would have composed it with a plain background (no objects, just black or blue or whatever). Just my opinion.

Second shot for me too, the blurred clock really emphasises the focus on the drop.

Going with the crowd...the second/original shot. I also agree that a plain backgroud is the best way to go with this type of shot.

I agree with the people above,

BUT

how about this: taking the first image, and manipulating it so the clock is inside the water droplet, while still maintaining the reflections and the '3Dness' of the water droplet. Am I genius or what? Reckon it would make a more interesting and unique shot...
