Default To Lomo or Not to Lomo... That's the ?

I tried the Photoshop Lomo tutorial on this site and really liked the effect. I've tried it on a few shots and liked this one the best. When I posted it on the "Share your shots" section, I didn't get many responses and the one I did get said something about not knowing what Lomo was.

For those of you who don't know (which I didn't until very recently) it's an old russian film camera that uses a particular kind of film that has very saturated colors and high contrast (if you would like to add/correct that explanation please do so).

Since I've found a way for my pictures to have that effect I've been doing it to everything. So I put it to you, is this effect not as cool as I think it is? Am I ruining perfectly good pictures by overprocessing them? Am I asking too many questions?

Basically, which do you like better, the original or the Lomo effect?

LOMO away, my friend. I like the effect in this shot.

Also, don't take it to heart if you don't get many responses in the share your shots section - there are a lot of threads opened daily so it's not that easy to stay in focus Try the critque section next time.

I find the processing too strong for my tastes. Is the original completely unprocessed?

Thanks for the input. It's REALLY helpful. The original was not processed except for I bumped up the exposure when I opened it as a Raw file. Here is the completely unprocessed image and a second try at the lomo. I realize that I might have overdid it the first go around. Let me know if you still think it's way overprocessed.

Thanks again.

For this subject matter...I like the effect. It makes it look a little more....magical (for lack of a better word) than just a boring old John Deere! I love the angle you took the photo at too! Nice!

I like your second attempt at the effect...it makes the chains stand out and is better than the original imo

Definitely the second one. Although I have seen many that would go with your first processing I am not particularly a big fan of when they look so heavily processed in Lomo.

I think it's a little too much...maybe half way?
The original has more details on the chains that I think is lost in the first.
