Why the change?

shots were one right after the other with no change in settings etc. why two different results? 01 seems brighter (less shadow) than 3000. Absolutely no clouds in the sky on this day.

That's strange. What happens when you set it to manual exposure, manual (sunny) white balance?

I've put the two images on two tabs in Firefox and flicked between them. The only differences I can see are a some displacement of the branches (a slight breeze) and a small amount of camera rotation. Overall brightness seems identical to me - precisely what I would expect from two hand-held shots in quick succession.

It must be a discolouration due to the different positions on my monitor, as they indeed look the same when placed at the same spot.
