Default Sunset: B&W or Colour

Shot this one on vacation at a cottage; it was one of the first photos with my D3100

Foxwood 2011-187

Foxwood 2011-187-2

Like both of these photos, but have been going crazy trying to figure which version I like more. Help? TIA

Definitely the color. You just can't tell that it's a sunset in the B&W. The colors are really pretty in the first one, I'd go with that one.

The whole point of a sunset is to capture the vivid colors, why would you want it in B&W?

Yes, the colour version. The b&w could be a moon shot if one didn't know.

That was my thought, also. I think each version could stand on their own. But, if you wanted to portray a sunset; color version without a second thought.
