Default Baby Blue eyes

First I would like to say I am only 3 weeks into photography and this forum. I have been reading everything I can, to try and understand how to use my camera. (Sony SLT a55) I started out my day trying my luck at Marco. With my granddaughter by my side, I changed my mind and use her eyes as my subject. I will say that none of my photos where as good as I hoped they would be. So I worked on this one all day, and this is what I came up with. I would give you, all the setting if only I knew just what all I did. I am new to the photo shop stuff also.

here are the settings from the camera
Lens 55.0mm
35mm equival 82mm
shutter sp. 1/100
f5.6
ISO 200
Exif verson 2.3

I had a hard time with the skin tones, because her face is darker on the forehead then the noise and cheek area, and she has white spots all over her face and they showed up red due to the heat of the day.

I would like the good, the bad, and the ugly..............................I am eager to learn, so any and all comments are welcome.

Thanks for taking the time to help me............................Laura

Actually I prefer the first one. You'll find a lot of people think that selective colour, which you've done here, is "yesterday's news" I've only seen a few photos that really pull it off. So I find your edit a little plain compared to the original and the eyes seem a little too blue. I like the composition and you have good focus on the eyes. I like seeing the colour on her shoulder straps that relates to her blue eyes.
You've certainly got a great little model there so keep taking photos and learning to achieve the look you want. Remember this is only my opinion on your pic, someone may come along and completely disagree with me!

I would agree, that I like the 1st one as well. It seems more real to me. I MAY try and brighten it up just a smidge, but other than that, great shot! She's a beauty

First shot is fantastic. Edit is predictable and diminishes the shot.

I love the first shot and think her rosy cheeks make it perfect.
