Default Critique please!

Sooooo, I'm as green as they come. I haven't had any photoshop training...I'm just flying by the seat of my pants here...tell me what you think and what you would have done differently. Thanks for the feedback!

I like the edited one. I didn't see any green, though. Cute baby. Great subject for practice, Em!

For saying you are green, this is a great start. Good overall adjustments to create more interest. It may be a tad too much red overall, but sometimes that's good and always it's subjective.

Thank you! That cute baby is my baby <3 And the cute lady is my mom! They are both great practice subjects. So, looking at the edited pic again, I'm not sure I like the blur effect in the vignette. I went off of a tutorial online and that was what I ended up with. Thanks for the feedback! Is there anything that you would have done differently?

With portrait photography one needs to have the subject(s) pin sharp and the background without distractions so the eye is drawn to the subject. I much prefer the edit, the faces pop more.

On a technical note, be sure to focus on the eyes. Set your focus point on the center, get the focus on the eyes, then recompose and shoot.

Moved to comparison critique. Presumably you are mainly interested in comments on the post-processing rather than the shot itself?
