What’s Your Preference?

Hello all,
Just last week I bought a Sony SLT- a55v camera. Not knowing anything about photography, I spent a week reading the booklet that came with it. While doing research on the net, I came across this site. I can't begin to tell you how helpful you all have been. I even posted my first picture in the Vertical challenge today. I goofed on my first try. I hope I don't goof this one.
This is my first, at trying to understand the setting, and getting a good shot. All suggestion, comments....etc. are greatly appreciated.
