Default Need some comments

Hi guys I'm new to this ...just looking for some feedback ..I'm working out in west Texas and just bought a new camera...Nex5 by Sony ..I took a shot of this flower trying the DOF thing..the second one is my tweaking it some and the third one is my end result ... a postcard I sent to my wife..tell me what you think ....

Probably better in the before and after thread, but the mods can take care of that if they choose.

I like them, but think the "after" versions are a touch overdone. Somewhere about 3/4 of the way from where you started to where you ended up would probably be more to my taste.

Can I ask, did you use aperture mode and change the f-number or did you use the "Background Defocus" feature?

Nice shot but I agree that its a tad overdone in the final one. I like the composition in the final version but don't forget to watch out for those stray bits of grass that can become a distraction! They were the first things I noticed about the pic.
Don't stop what you're doing though - I'd pass out with the shock if my husband did something like this for me

Thanks everyone...I try to send a flower shot to my wife at least twice a week since I'm away so much...she likes the second one too...and yes I used aperture mode and no blurring done with the use of a computer..what you see was done with the camera....thanks again for the comments I'm happy to here from yall...
