Question Color or selective color

There are very few selective coloring shots that I like. BUT, with the rose in the shot the BW version just didn't look right. Which do you prefer, color or the selective coloring?

I prefer the color version, but I would have preferred the background more out of focus (can be done in post)

Thanks for the suggestion. I adjusted the background focus (hopefully not too much).

Very nice....and it looks real.
I think the problem with selective color is it very often looks too fake. I mean, selective coloring is obviously "faked" but, it often looks like color that didn't really exist is applied (poorly) to a B/W image.

Now, being very nit-picky, I would get rid of the small red flowers in the background. It's just enough there to anchor the eye away from the primary red "focal point".

For me, color works better, greens really compliment the red

Definitely the color version. The red still draws the viewer's eye immediately without the fake effect of the black and white. I also agree that the blurred background adds to the impact. Nice job!

I gotta say I like the colored version with the blurred background the best. On the selective color version, it would have looked better if you toned down the color on the red flower.
