Default Cropping conundrum

I am struggling, compositionally, with whether this bunny image works best with the environment as a frame for the shot, or whether the bunny up close is more compelling. I know there may not be a right or wrong answer, but would be interested in any opinions. Thanks!

Here is the shot with the shrubs as a frame:

Here is the cropped, closer shot:

Thanks for the comments.

For what opinions are worth - the "fill the frame" rule of thumb seems to apply here.

I find the framed photo interesting, but I find the frame-filled bunny image much more appealing.

For what it's worth.

I like the cropped one better. With the first one, to me, the bunny disappears because the frame is so far and if you crop any closer you may just as well crop to what you did in the second one. Otherwise a great capture!

You could of course have both - clone the frame closer to the bunny, closer on the left than on the right!

The crop is the one that works for me also.
+1 on filling the frame.

Thanks very much, and I tend to agree. Exactly the feedback I needed.
