Default ...to crop or not to crop

.. or to crop a different way
I could'nt figure out what was wrong with this picture but I knew it wasn't right. I think that there is too much white foreground but not sure if thats all. I cropped most of it out, I think it looks better but something is still missing. I value all your opinions, what ya think?

Before
Japanese Garden Fabyan Park

After
Japanese Gardens-cropped

Thanks

What is your subject, what about that scene caught your attention. To me it's cluttered with lots of detail and possibilities. I would try to crop so that what most grabbed my attention was clearly prominent.

The subject that I was trying capture is the bridge and the little structure to the right and secondary the snow scene as a whole. I think you're right about it being too cluttered. I think if I would've zoomed in more on the subject, I would've had a better capture.

Thanks for your critque!

The crop is an improvement. You cleaned up the foreground and moved the bridge and other little object over to the side and slid the horizon off the center. All 3 strengthened the image.

I would crop it tight to the bridge, leave the big tree to the right in it and leave a pretty, white, snowy foreground (cropping it just before the brush in the front of the picture). I tried to do it for you -- I am not sure if my description maes sense -- but I don't think I can in this format. Would love to see the update to this stunning shot!! Even more stunning to me as I live in Florida!

I prefer the crop.
