Default Grandpa

The first one is SOOC jpeg. The second one I made some adjustments in lightroom only. Do I need to keep working on it? I want something that looks natural and not too processed.. I know many people in the family will want a copy. Any improvement advice appreciated...

in the second photo, it looks like you just lightened it a bit and looks overexposed on my monitor. maybe a little more adjustment by making it a bit darker than the original. if this was my shot, i'd crop it more closer. i like the expression of his face in this photo.
i did a crop and added a bit more to the top.

I really like your second one alot. I love seeing his hand grabbing the cane...it tells a story. I wish that I could see his other arm as well.

yes, the cane tells a story to his family. He's had it a while as you can tell. A comment was made the 2nd looks overexposed?? I am new, so how can I tell? I am using the "show clippings" in lightroom and its not showing his face is clipping??

Default contrast

I prefer the texture of the second one but I also agree that it seems a bit overexposed. Perhaps you could do something with the exposure and/or contrast on the left side of his face.

I'm also thinking that a different shot, for example of him sitting and holding the cane in front of his chest with one elbow on his knee would afford a lovely close-up of his face and hands ...which are so very expressive . Then again...you may not have such an opportunity.

the #2 is lovely, i like vivid colors
only his face is too bright in contrast to his hat and everything else in the background.
