Default Tones and overtones

Hi all,

These are two edits of the same picture.n colour and black and white.

River and the spark

The chaos in silence

Camera: D90 with a 18-200 VR II lens
EXIF for the raw image:
f = 18 mm (on APS-C); ISO 100; f/8; 1/40s

I have played around with the levels and seek to know which edit is stronger; the black and white is a bolder approach which aims to achieve a superlative treatment for impact while the colour is closer to the scene in reality....does the tone treatment add to the quality and make an impact..( some art is created in an emotional state of mind, as was this with me )

In this case I prefer the colour. The blue gives the scene a life and the whole photograph feels more dramatic, and less dull. I really like this shot and the silhouette works to great effect!

Beautiful photo! I really love the colour - it's more dynamic and gives more depth.

Maybe it's just me, but I really like the black and white one. The clouds and the water are so much more dramatic. I think that because the colors are not extremely vibrant, it is better left to the imagination. Stunning shot!

ericakg and carlyfan, thanks for viewing and letting me know what you think. Though I personally had very close to what carlyfan says about drama and contrasts when I worked on this. In any, case I should wait out some more votes.

Thanks again people for your inputs and appreciation.

I think the B&W has more of a timeless quality to it, and I guess that is what you were was trying capture in the scene.
