Default cropping/saturation question boy with umbrella

Are there conventions or preferences about cropping umbrellas? I took this one this morning (somebody was very happy to get that umbrella out):

and cropped it thus:

then wondered if it's not okay to crop an umbrella? like not okay to crop a foot?

also, i discovered the saturate buttons is this too much? it's actually only a teeny bit more saturated than as-shot

thanks for any ideas. the data:

nikon D5000
focal length 35 mm
shutter speed 1/125
aperture 2.8
iso 560
as you can probably tell, i used a fill flash

To my untrained eye, it does look a tad too saturated. With all the bright colors it may not be necessary to play with saturation. I think the colors on the original look better and more real.
As far as the umbrella goes, I personally think it looks fine. But don't trust me on this. Hopefully someone who knows something will reply after me, listen to them. Overall, nice shot, I like it.

The crop looks good, but the saturation is definitely unneccessary. The colors are plenty bright.

Nice photo!
I'd crop it even more to fill the frame with the umbrella background colors. That'll make a very creative looking photo.

thanks, adrenojunkie and existenze- i reset the saturation to as-shot and cropped square:

i like that a little better than vertical:
