Default DOF in the city

These two photos were taken from the same place. A maquette, as 3D map, is placed at Pécs (Hungary) to help people with disability. Which part do you think is better to focus on? The maquette, or the real square? I like both, but would like to read your feedback.

My opinion is that I like where you focused on the maquette a little better, but even better (I think) would be if you moved more to the right, I'm not sure if you understand that, but I am thinking that you could have the big building with the green dome aligned.

Thanks, Wal! Unfortunately I have to wait until I can travel there again.

I prefer the first shot, focused on the statue on the plinth. I think the maquette is too low in the picture easily read as the main subject even when you focus on it. I am also swayed towards that because the maquette has some kind of tent cluttering its background while the statue has a perfectly placed cloud; also the exposure of the top picture results in a less washed out effect.

Given use of a tripod, it might even be the kind of shot where artificially stacking several exposures at different points (or seeing if you can find a position whereby it is all in focus naturall) is the best result of all.

Thank you Wulf! These frames are straight out of the camera, only resized; I did not crop, edit perspective distortion, etc. Actually, a lot of people were at the square due to an event and I was not patient enough to have better position/moment. I was just happy that nobody came across. Agree, tripod is always a good idea, I will not forget nex time.
