Default Does the crop work?

Here is the image as it came from my camera:

Lake Eola thru Palms-5761
Camera: Canon EOS 50D
Exposure: 10
Aperture: f/4.5
Focal Length: 24 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: -1/2 EV
Flash: Off, Did not fire

I cropped the image and changed the WB a little, and here is the final result:

Lake Eola Fountain thru Palms-V-5761

Was the crop an improvement? How about the temperature change? If not, please leave suggestions for how I can make this image better.

Thanks for your critique.

I agree with Zona here and yet feel that the original is a great shot too in that it offers a broader perspective. Just change the white balance in the first shot too

I prefer the cropped version. Splendid clarity for a nightscape!

I like the crop, but prefer the warmer tones of the original. Go figure?

I like them both and can't really pick one over the other. But I think the first one is a little too warm for me.

After flipping back and forth I like both shots, but I like the second one a little more than the other. Nice shot!

Thanks, zona5101. I thought the crop made it stronger as well; but you never know how others see it.

Thanks Michael_2010. I like to shoot a lot at night, and this was the first time I did noise reduction in the camera after every shot. The results all seem to be a little sharper than what I had seen in the past.
