Which apple? Does more real=better?

I have been unsatisfied with the pp on this apple picture and I can't quite put my finger on why... Here are two versions of it, what do you think? Which picture do you think looks more realistic, and is that the better one? (For the original and other versions check out my flickr page.)

i like the second one. I think the light more closely resembles window light. I also like the illumination of background as it give the picture more depth and makes it more visually interesting.

The second picture has a much more "artistic" perspective and feel. It almost has the feeling of a painting but without loosing much of its detail. Definitively the second one.

i like the second one better, but to me the apple still falls into the background. i am new to stuff but i would either try changing the background color or try backlighting the apple a little bit to give it a clear separation from the background.

Can you lighten the bottom of the hand a little? Also maybe not have the apple right in the middle- i like the position of the first one better.

I love the second one, definitely... it has a fantasy feel to it.
Kind of reminds me of the Snow White and the poison apple story.
I love the colors in that one. So in my opinion, definitely the second one!
