Default Rose

Did this on a sheet of plexiglass with a white sheet of paper behind it (being held up by a water bottle) and a sheet of white paper under the plexiglass.
Here is the original:
IMG_1977

and here is the finished product:
Full Bloom [149/365]

Is the editing bad? How was composition? White background good or would black be better? Also are the water drops distracting? Anything else? I will hopefully re-shoot this using the critique I get and see the improvements.
Thanks!

I'm just starting out, but I have to say, I like both the pic and the edited version. I think the edited version might have been just a little over done, as it almost makes the rose look fake. Not sure how you would darken it (which I loved) and still keep the realness of the flower. Sure hope someone can help, cause that is an awsome photo!

As you plan to re shoot it, why dont try to see full reflection of the rose on the glass and pp with both hikey or lowkey and see what you like better?

For this time, the rose has been really overdone.
