Default Bridge over the Thames

Lights on the Thames

I know this shot is busy but that's what I was aiming for, but maybe too busy?

OK have the cropped picture up now to compare.

Hi Steve.
To be honest I think this is too busy, it might be better if the bridge went from one side of the frame to the other, I think it loses impact when it stops 2/3rds through the shot.
Re-composing to remove the building and boat on the right might improve this shot, and maybe shoot from the Southbank to get a more interesting background (Charing Cross Station?)
I do like the reflections on the deep black, and exposure looks spot on.

It did cross my mind to crop the right hand boat and building out of the shot but decided not to, to keep the ballance with the other boat. Maybe i'll crop it later and see how it looks, maybe put it up with this one and compare on this thread?

Thanks for taking the time to give your views Joe and i'll have a look at your project later too

Steve.

Hi Steve, thanks for having a look at my project.
I prefer the second shot but I'm not too keen on the aspect ratio now, it looks a bit squashed in if you know what I mean. I think you've got a nice composition here, maybe it's worth going out to take it again if you're out and about?
