Default Boat: Color vs. B&W

Took a photo of a boat that had strayed to the end of it's rope. It was a foggy day at the pier so the colors were kind of washed out plus the water looked murky, so thought it might be a good opportunity for black and white?

If you have any other critiques about the photo, please feel free!

Nice diagonal shot. I like the B & W better, adds a better mood to the shot. I would also try different angles with this shot. The steep angle is nice, but what about some different angles? Take more shots and then you have more to compare with.

The deep black water near the edge of the water is really nice. Gives a mysterious feeling to the image.

When shooting this slow, use a tripod.

Thanks

Joe

Thank you very much for the reply, I wasn't really planning on shooting anything due to the fog, but this looked interesting enough. Next time I will bring a tripod so I can take a bit more light in.

Again, really appreciate the feedback, will probably go back again and give it another go next week.

haha sorry to disagree but I have to say I prefer the colored one, the fiery orange accents in the wood and rope really contrast beautifully with the rich emerald water making the photo feel more dramatic and energetic

I think the B&W tells a better story. I would try lightening the sky somewhat to add contrast.

B&W makes it seem more mysterious!
