Default Another color vs. black & white choice

Ok, I'm relatively new here--and working my way around, both the website as well as learning my own camera.

Same shot--but the post-processing was different. Simple: one was color-enhanced, the other I desaturated it to black & white. BUT, while I like both images, I'm curious as to what one others would like, what you're drawn to in the images, etc.

I've never taken any classes or read any books, so I'm trying to get a feel for this based on how the images look comparatively.

So what do you guys think?

I prefer the color. The colors are so pretty and bold. I think the B&W is a little muddy.

As it is on this post, I also prefer the color, but I think that if you added a little more contrast to the black and white one it could be a lot better.
What post production software are you using? If you are using photoshop then you can convert and increase the lightness and darkness of various colors to emphasize the subject.

I too prefer the color version. I don't think the BW is dramatic enough, maybe with a closer shot and shooting at a different time of day for more shadows would make a difference. Just a thought.

b&w, just add more contrast
the color version is over saturated.
