Default Hobo Blanket?

Before

Hobo Blanket?

After

Hobo Blanket?

I found this off of a set of train tracks (the tracks are behind me). There are a few rocks in the "blanket" which i left there to preserve the natural essence of the setup.

I used the lightroom preset "Cold Tone" for this shot, was I right to make this shot this way?

To be honest I think the processing you've done takes away from this shot, the subject blends in to the background.
I think a more suitable approach would be to desaturate the background a little to make the subject stand out more. I downloaded it from Flickr and had a quick go at it, I can put it up if you like.

I am going to have to agree with junglebear. The blanket was the obvious subject in the first with the contrast between the color and rocks. The second seems drab with little to draw the focus of the photo to the blanket. My Just my thoughts. I really really like the first one though!!

Ok, here you go

What I did (from what I remember):
Duplicated layer and converted to black and white
Lowered opacity to around 50% (ish)
Used history brush to go over the blanket
Flatten image
Desaturated a little bit
