Post Remote for Canon Rebel XS camera

Hello! I woudl like to know if anyone knows if a wireless remote will work with the Canon Rebel XS SLR? I bought on an Optecka RC7 but it didnt work at all. I checked other sites and they said the below works but i have read other forums on Flikr that say the XS model does not support wireless at all it only allows a remote that you plug into the camera. Any suggestions or corrections to the above would be great! Thank you!

This is the link to the remote that claims to work, not the one i bought.

You cannot use the infrared-based remotes because the XS has no built-in IR sensor, like the other dRebels do (it's a white dot on the grip). So, anything that's a 3rd-party knockoff of the Canon RC1 or RC5 aren't going to work for you.

However, since you have the cable-release port, a radio remote will work. Essentially, you plug the receiver into the cable release port, and then hold the transmitter in your hand. All the radio remotes will have two pieces: a receiver and a transmitter.

I use a Yong Nuo RF-602 as a radio remote for my 50D. The receiver unit can sit on the hotshoe and uses a cable to connect to the cable release port. Yong Nuo sells different cables for different cameras. You can find these things all over eBay (just search for RF602 or RF-602), and I believe it's about $40 for a Tx/Rx pair.

The nice thing about the RF-602s is that they can also play double-duty and be used for off-camera flash triggers. So if you eventually go the Strobist route, you can use these for that, too. Also, you'll have radio reliability and range, and you won't be limited to line-of-sight like you would with infrared. I loved my RC-1 but using it in bright sunlight was sometimes a PITA.

If you're going to do the traditional thing and duel with chainsaws, take it outside. It took forever to get the blood off of the carpet the last time.

And, just so's you two know, I would never marry a man whose comic book collection was less impressive than mine. And I've got Jack Kirby, Bob Kane, Jerry Siegel, Frank Miller, and Alan Moore autographs, as well as the rare variant Sandman #8 (signed by Neil) and the Google Chrome comic with a drawing by Scott on the back. I have exceedingly high standards as a geek girl.
