Default Single image from T1i video

If you're taking a video with a video capable DSLR, say like the Canon T1i, can you extract a single image from a frame and treat it just as if you'd taken a single JPG photo?

Technically, yes. Load up the video into just about any video editing software and find the frame you want: there's always a way of telling the software to extract that as a jpg.

Keep in mind, though, that you're looking at, at best, 1920x1080 in resolution.

I suppose that would be the case with any video-capable DSLR right? Bummer! Too bad you can't capture video at the regular sensor size.

If you could, you'd end up with terrabytes in minutes. Think about it: a single jpg from a T1i is about 4mb. If you're shooting even cinematic 24fps, you're filling up the card at a (theoretical) 96mb/s. That means that in 2 minutes you've got a gig. Assuming you could get a card that would record 100mb/s, you'd be filling up harddrives faster than you can count.
