Hi, I currenly have a Canon Rebel XT (which was discontinued soon after I got it) I need a backup, and was going to get the XSi, but I wanted to check and see if anyone knows if the T1i is better with higher ISO than what I have now and possibly the XSi.
Right now it goes up to 1600, and I can take good pictures at ISO 800 as long as I do a noise filter. Normally I absolutely hate anything that was taken with my ISO 1600 so for instance no-flash weddings are definitely out for me. I really want to get a Canon because I want interchangeable lenses, and the 50D isn't going to be happening anytime soon. Maybe next year! Appreciate anyone's opinions, thanks! Sarah |

The T1i is actually worse at base iso, but does considerably better any higher than 400iso. It's no contest at the extremes (1600+)

Really? I can't believe it's worse. Normally I shoot at 400 so that I can use higher shutter speeds with children. What's 400 like? Does it go above 1600 or is that still the highest? Thanks!! Really really appreciate the answer!

I believe the T1i goes to 3200 native and can be pushed one more stop (6400).
The XSI and T1i are comparable until 400iso, with the XSi beating the newer body by a slight margin below that level.

Ok, so 1 final question, I swear - What does a shot from the T1i with the 3200 look like? Could anyone show me? I don't care if it's after you took out noise, I'd just like to see one. Right now my 1600 pictures mostly look like crap so if it's a huge improvement and being able to go from shooting at 800 max most of the time to 3200 if I really needed it - that would be pretty awesome and definitely worth paying for. Thanks!!

I found this after a quick search. I'm sure if you Google "Canon T1i High ISO Performance," you'll find quite a bit of information.
