I recently bought a canon 500d slr. I was wondering how can i adjust the view finder since with dslr the view finder will be used a lot more than the back display? I have a shortsightness and i wear glasses. I know i can adjust it to suit my vision but how do you do that? Do you look in the viewfinder to a distant object and then adjust it until it is clear on the view finder?

Try pressing your shutter down so your focus points light up and adjusting the diopter (viewfinder) until those points are sharp. you may have to press a few times as the focus points time out... Sime

I was instructed once to put you lens focus in manal mode, set the focus to infinity, and while looking through your view finder adjust the diopter until the object is sharp.

Ken Caleno dictates to remove the lens and adjust the diopter until the focus marks are sharp. Ive always done it with a lens on. Either way, Sime's instructions stand.
