Internal Flash Problem Canon XSi

have an canon eos xsi. my issue is as follows:

the internal flash will not pop up when the flash button is pushed. In the flash menu for the internal flash, it tells me this menu is not available because an external flash unti is attached, however the external unit is not attached.

Any help in figuing this out is greatly aprreciated.

The external flash detect switch is stuck. You need to fiddle with it a bit to get it unstuck.

Many thanks Doug... saved me a pretty penny from having to take the camera to the repair shop with an expired warranty....
