Default new vs used camera and gear - preferences?
Hi Everyone,

I'm fixing to get me a canon rebel xsi soon w/kit lens, extra battery and the 55-250mm IS f4-5.6 lens as part of a best buy package for $779.

This seems to be the the best bang for my buck at this time, but I know I'll be itching for other lenses, which leaves me to my question...

Am I better to get used lenses or new, is there a trusted group that buys/sells each other's equipment (other than craigslist or ebay). A thought popped into my head about a borrowers club that lets paying members exchange equipment (prepaid boxes) - does a club even exist or have I just created a new idea?

I've bought almost all my gear used either from Craiglist or photoboards like Fred Miranda, Digital Grin, and NikonCafe. I have never had a problem with any of it. I like Craigslist because you can meet up with the person and check out the gear before you buy it. The only down side with used gear is, well, that it is used. But there is an awful lot of lightly used stuff for good prices. I bought my 24-70 when it was one month old. I just got a D90 that a guy took under 20 pictures with and decided he did not like for only $450.
