Default Canon 50mm f1.8 II stuck on XSi. Cannot remove. Help please.

So tonight I was out shooting the decorations and accidentally dropped the f1.8 50mm lens out of my pocket. As soon as it dropped I thought I heard the lens shatter. When I checked, it wasn't shattered but the lens was obviously damaged. In my infinite wisdom, I decided to mount the detached lens on to my XSi to see if it would still recognize it or if all was lost. BIG mistake. I now cannot remove the lens from the body. I am scared to exert too much force in fear of damaging the body itself.

Does anyone have any experience with this or have any ideas short of sending the camera to Canon? I am hoping B&H can help since I live in Manhattan.

Happy Holidays all.

Don't go to B and H. Take it to the place across the street (34th) on the second floor. They repair Canon cameras. They will be open on Sunday. I think it is called Chrysler Camera Repair or something like that.

They are connected to the place down in UNion Square, except that place doesn't work on Canons

Found the link.

Learn more about PhotoTech and what we do.

Go to the 34th street location as they handle Canons

Thanks for the info. Out of curiosity, how come you don't like the idea of B&H repairing it? Strictly b/c they aren't a licensed Canon repair shop?

I do not think B&H does repairs. At least every weekend when I am there, I have never seen a repair department. And unfortunately, I have been there a lot lately.
