Default New EF Canon 75-300mm F4.5-6 iii

New to the canon rebel xi, and using this lens...can u offer me some tips on using it and what are some great shots to take using this camera...

Practice, practice, practice. Just go out and shoot. That will tell you more than any of us can offer.

Most times the majority of people here won't even respond to a thread like this -- not snobbery, just asked too many times in the past.

So just go out and shoot. That is the absolutely best thing you can do to learn about the camera and the lens.

Not trying to be a snob, just trying to give you some practical advice. I don't have either camera or lens. But when I got my 40D and some lenses that is what I did to find out what would work -- shoot, shoot, shoot, and shoot again and again and again and again.

That's the best advice I can give you, since I don't know the camera or the lens. But I think it is sound advice.

About the 75-300 III: stop down to f/8 (it's sharper there than wide open), and keep the shutter speed above 1/300s if you're zoomed all the way in at 300mm.
