I started my photography business about a year ago and mainly took maternity and newborn pics. The Canon 24-70 2.8L series has been fantastic for this type of work. Now, I have expanded to taking group and larger family shots. My problem is I can't seem to ever get everyone in full focus. I have tried upping the aperature to 8.0/11.0, manual focusing, etc. I always shoot in RAW, and always shoot with natural outdoor lighting...does anyone have any pointers??? And-Im considering a new lens....what do you recommend for shooting larger groups with a more crisp result??

This tutorial may help.
How to Take Great Group Photos I don't shoot groups very often, however does F16-F22 work out. It may be worth a try. Or, if you are shooting on a cropped sensor body, try a shorter lens. For this kind of shoot, I love my 17-40 f4L. Not only is it sharp L glass but it is relatively inexpensive. It is something to consider.
Oh, and since I got my 5D, the 17-40 is an absolutely remarkable lens in the right situations. Talk about super-wide -- nothing like I ever experienced on my 40D. Yikes, I'm falling in love all over again.
