Default Pics loading as _MG_1234 instead of IMG_1234

Could someone please tell me what I've done??? I upload photos to Picasa and I just noticed this happening about a week and a half ago. It's so annoying to have to change each file name back to the IMG prefix...

My camera is the Rebel XTi and I was playing around with some settings the other day, but I think this started before that.

I just can't figure it out!

Thanks!

You must have renamed your filing system somehow.

You selected Adobe RGB color space.

The DCF specification requires that photos in Adobe RGB have filenames that start with an underscore, and that photos in sRGB have filenames that don't start with an underscore.

See page 83 of the XTi/400D manual.

Negative

See his issue.

If it were Adobe it would be _IMG1234.... instead he's getting _mg_1234.

Meaning the first "I" was cut off. Thus, must have been renamed.

Thank you all! That's exactly what I did! And...it does change the file name to start as _MG...(whoever said that!)

I swear...I don't even think I looked at that little box on the bottom of the page...wonder what else I've missed?!?!?!

Thank you again!

Yeah, this is correct. I have always used Adobe RGB and my files have always started _MG_ etc. AND I never changed my naming convention.

It must be a canon/nikon thing. Nikons all do _DSC for Adobe and DSC_ for sRGB.

Has nothing to do with nikon/canon. Reread my post. It has everything to do with the names he gave his files.

Pull your head out long enough to do some re-reading yourself. First of all, her name is Jenny. She didn't re-name files, the camera did. As the ones that know have already said, changing the color space changes the file name. IMG_xxxx when in RGB, _MG_xxxx when in Adobe. It probably happened when she was "playing around with some settings" like she stated.
