Default New T1i

Good Morning, I just purchased this camera and was trying out the self timer and i'm not sure if i can use it only certain modes? It keeps pausing as i'm trying to set up for another grouping. It can take 10shots a take. I'm trying to take some surprise christmas pics for my hubby and was getting annoyed by whatever it was doing i kept turning the camera off and back on to reset and sometimes it would say it was busy? Any ideas?
LOL or maybe I was wearing the flash out!
Thanks for the help in advance!

When the camera says it's busy, that means, well, it's busy. It's performing some function(s) behind the scenes.

Have you read the users manual on using the self-timer? There should be specific details in there on how to use it and what it's doing.

HA! Yea i figured it was busy doing something.. Wasn't sure what... yes i have read it and not much in there, i think i'll refer back to the cd that came with it and see if it tells me anything more. I have only had it a few days, so i'm sure this will be a stupid question in a week or two when i do have all the information.

You're close. If you take a number of photos in a row with the pop-up flash, the camera will put the flash into a forced "cooling off" time.

See the last item on page 205 of the manual, in the Troubleshooting section.

Thank you! I'll check it out. Thanks for the direction. I haven't had a chance to look at the 80-100 shots i took as of yet but was wondering if i'm shooting on auto how does it focus if i'm not in the set as soon as i hit the button to start, or will it focus once i get in the picture?
I guess I'll find out when I take my lunch break and look at the pics. I looked quickly when they first came out, they could have been a little sharper and more focused. Thought about puttting something there for it to focus on until i got into the shot? Hmmm

Yes.

No.

If you want to do this sort of thing, you have to use a remote release rather than the timer.
