Default T1i flash flicker & battery

hey, so I just bought my t1i today from costco (about $950 for full kit and tax).

so.. I started taking pictures today and I noticed that when I take a picture, the flash starts flickering like crazy (it's kind-of blinding and it seems like it's not functioning properly). so I wanted to know, is this normal?

also... someone told me that the first charge, I should leave the battery on over night. is that true? I just took it off when it turned green.

The flash is firing to meter the scene. That is normal.

The Rebel series bodies dont have a low-light AF lamp: a light that shines on the scene to help the camera with focus in low-light situations. Instead, they use the pop-up flash as a lamp to help with AF.

It's normal and, when Im trying to shoot a concert in a small and security let them in, ANNOYING as sin.

Yes, see the FAQ on page 45 of the manual, about 2/3 down the page.

No, there is no value in leaving it overnight. Li-Ion batteries behave differently from NiCd and NiMH batteries. When the light in the charger goes out, the charger has stopped charging the battery. You can take the battery out any time.

By the way, another difference is that Li-Ion batteries like being "topped off". Recharge it whenever you think of it. There's no need to wait until it's almost drained.

ok thanks.

one more last question...

is there anyway to put it into Live View when it's in an automatic mode? I can only go Live View mode when it's in manual.
