Default Too good to be true?

Hi all,
I was looking at purchasing a Canon EOS 50d, and was wondering if this deal that I found on eBay is too good to be true. I was going to buy a 50 mm 1.8 lens anyway, so this package seemed to have everything I'd need. The price seems too good to be true.

item is here

If you're not comfortable following the link it's item number: 290372999164

Thanks

*Sigh* To answer your question.

Yes......

Do NOT buy a package!!!!!!!!! These things are ripoffs. Simply buy the camera and a lens you want.

Best advice most people are ever given is that if you CAN ask the question consisting of those five words then it's best to walk away. Ebay makes me nervous and honestly when buying most things I'm on Adorama or BH's used list looking for them first. Most of the time they are within 10% of the Ebay price average and I can depend on the service and follow up.

yeah those lenses are the real cheapies... you can get better quality products bought separately through good sources for a total that's not a whole lot more than that

Default Thanks

Thanks for the advice!

I was temped b/c of the brand on the lenses. I saw the same seller had similar packages that didn't have Canon brand lenses & thought that this one could be acceptable.

As a followup, on amazon there are two lens options with the 50d, a 28-135 mm IS lens for $1128.88 and an 18-200 mm IS lens for $1699.00, anyone with either or both lens have a recommendation?

Thanks,
Adam

one of my good friends has the 50D with the 28-135 lens and i have used it quite a bit.... overall i think its a good lens... quite a bit better than the 18-55 or the 75-300. it has a bit of an issue with creep, but overall i think its a better choice. i can't speak for the 18-200 because i have never used it, but i've also heard good things about canon's relatively new 18-135

I have the 28-135 and it's as good as I need it to be. I wish it were a fixed aperture lens at around the f2.8 area, but for a kit lens I can't complain at all. A cheap lens on the 50D is almost pointless, except for the fact that most amatures (don't know what you're planning on using this camera for, ie: hobby or profession) wouldn't be printing larger than 8X10 at home. I had a Sony A200 with a VERY soft kit lens that made very nice 8X10's. They looked quite sharp at that size, but were quite disapointing at pixel level. Frustratingly so, actualy.
The 28-135 has a better focusing system (quieter, quicker, and full time manual even in auto focus) and can be used on a full frame sensor, which will come in handy when the prices for full frame bodies come down to enthusiest level, which they're pretty much at anyway.
