Hi guys, good day,I need some advice regarding what good lens to choose much affordable or
it worth an extra buck, Im confuse about choosing Canon 70-200mm F2.8L USM or Sigma 70-200 F2.8II EX DG Macro HSM. I know canon is much more expensive compared to sigma, but do you think canon is much better and worth an extra dollars. Thanks I really need your advice |

I think you would be very happy with the Sigma lens it's a very nice lens. Yes the canon is probably a little better but you will need to decided if it's worth the extra money.
What do you plan on using the lens for most? What type of experience do you have? What body do you use?

I had the same dilemna, and I chose to go with the Sigma. The Canon glass is superior, definately, however for the price and features, the Sigma was teh best choice for me. One thing about this lens though, is that sometimes it can be a little soft around the edges at 200mm, so you'll want to check that if you get it!

I went Canon and have not looked back. Hurt the pocket, but was worth waiting for. Consider the F4 with IS Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM II Macro Lens Review BTW - I am one of those types who waits for the best item, rather than settling on the "almost but not quite" product. I hate looking at an expensive product knowing that there is a better model out there for not that much more. |

Whether or not a lens is "worth it" is a personal thing--it depends a lot on a) how picky you are about image quality, b) how much money you have to spend on lenses, and c) how much use you're going to get out of a specific lens. All you're really going to find out is that it's worth it for some folks and not for others. You're going to have to decide if it's worth it for you on your own.
For me? Going with the L would be worth it, but I could probably be happy with the Sigma if it was a moderate-to-light use lens. And being the old-glass weirdo that I am, I might also start looking for an old used EF 80-200 f/2.8L (aka "the magic drainpipe") if USM and IS weren't issues for me.
