I've got a Canon DSLR that I absolutely love, and I frequently use my wireless remote with it. However, there are times when I don't want to lug around a camera that big, but I still want the convenience of compatibility with a wireless remote. Does anyone know of a Canon point and shoot that has that ability?
Thanks. |

From a quick look on Canon's website it looks like the only Powershot that supports a wireless remote is the SX1 IS, which will be smaller than a DSLR but not realy a pocket camera by any means.

Self-timer?

My current point and shoot already has a self-timer. I just prefer to use a wireless remote because I have a daily style blog, and it's much easier to take pictures of my outfits using a remote as opposed to walking back to the camera after every shot.
The SX1 looks like it's not much smaller than my DSLR, so it wouldn't really help much. |

Ok, this is going to sound nuts, but the G11. But not with the wireless remote you're using now, unless it's radio-based. The Canon G11 has a cable-release port that uses the same mini-minijack (2.5mm--the kind you use for cellphone headsets) that the dRebel SLR line does. So, you could hook up a Yong Nuo radio shutter release. And no tedious mucking about with infrared. If you already have RF-602 flash triggers, you could use those, too, by simply purchasing the proper shutter cable.
Some of the (much) older Powershots (G1-G6, Pro 1, Pro 90 IS, S1 IS, S60, S70) can use the WL-DC100. Not sure if that means you can use an RC1/RC5 with 'em, though.
