Default Canon Customer Service...

I recently sent my 50d in to Canon because there was a growing number of dead pixels in my shots in which I had a long exposure. (30-40) Yesterday I call in to track their process with the camera and when I asked what was wrong with it I was told "we do not track that information."

Has anyone else heard that before?
Has anyone had that problem? I
f so what did they do to repair it?

I only sent in my EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM lens in for repairs to the IS subsystem. They fixed it within the expected number of weeks and then I got it back, all for free as it was still under warranty. No issues there.

Why are you calling on their progress? Are they slacking off? Did you expect your camera to be returned by now?

I've only used Canon repair once and had excellent service. It was returned promptly, in approximately 1 week.

When I was e-mailing back and forth with Canon they said a lot of times issues like this are sensors issues that turn out not to be covered under warranty. They then send you a letter in which details the expenses of the repair. But to expedite this process you can call in check what is wrong and if you are going to have to pay for the repair and if you are make the payment so they can make the repair. So I was just calling to see what was wrong with it and if I was going to have to pay for the repair.
