Default Wireless Shutter Release
Can anyone recommend a good one? Under $50 - is that possible? I have the 50D and will hopefully upgrade to mkII

I think the RF-602s on ebay are the best rated cheap shutter and flash triggers available, you can get the tx/rx kit for rather inexpensive, and it can be expanded with more rxs any time.

just search rf602 and you'll see a bunch of them.

I agree. for the simple act of shutter release, bulb etc. the generic brand RF remote is good.
