I too am looking to purchase my first DSLR. I am looking at the 40D, Rebel T1i and the Rebel XSi. They all have features I am looking for. I take mostly sport pictures, both outdoors and indoors in poorly lit gyms where you cannot use a flash. So If anyone has help to offer in choosing one of these or an alternative please help.
Thank you |

The 40D has the shutter speed to shoot sports and you can react quicker with it, but the T1i takes video wich could be of benefit as well. The best solution, of course, would be the 7D, but there's quite a price difference between that and the other three.

The 7D is a dream to use , the 500D is pretty good as well and not as pricey as the 7 .

I'm totally in the same boat as you. In a few hours it'll be Black Friday and I want to take advantage of the deals that are out there to move up from a point and shoot/super zoomer. (Black Friday in the US is the day after Thanksgiving when retail stores dramatically drop prices.)
I've been cramming as to which deals are worth it and I don't want to make too hasty a decision, but it's come down a to Canon vs Nikon package. I've been thinking bout compatibility with other lenses, what kind of photography I'd like to venture in, and affordability of upgrades/lenses/accessories. It's overwhelming. I'd like a commitment with some kind of flexibility. We'll see how the cameras feel tomorrow. |
